Global Coordinates

A GPS receiver is not needed for these hikes. But people who own GPSRs like to have the waypoints so they're shown on the maps. The waypoint coordinates can be downloaded by clicking on the appropriate links in the city pages. You also can download all the waypoints at once.

The data is in GPX format but Geocities won't allow files with odd suffixes so the data is stored there with a ".txt" suffix. When you download it save the file with a ".gpx" suffix.

EasyGPS is a free program that can program any commonly-owned GPSR with data in this format.

GPS Uitility is another free program. It can program many GPSRs with data in this format and has many more features than EasyGPS

Several vendors sell computer-GPSR connectors economically through eBay (search: gps cable and your model).

The datum used is WGS 84.
