| Born in 1906, Eddie Gein always dreamed of becoming a woman. On November 17 1957 police entered the farmhouse of Eddie Gein whom they suspected in a robbery of a local store and of the disappearance of it's owner. As they entered the farmhouse the smell of rotting garbage and decomposition enveloped them. While the sheriff searched the kitchen with his flashlight, he felt something rub his shoulder when he looked there was a carcass hanging above it had been gutted and decapitated. It did not take long to realize that it was a human body and that of owner Bernice Worden. After inspecting the farmhouse they discovered lampshades made of human skin, chairs belts and even a suit made of human flesh. Anything you can think of he made it out of human skin, organs, or bones. They also discovered that all of his victim's had been women. Eddie Gein has become one of the most popular serial killers. Used as ideas in such movies like: Psycho, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and The Silence of the Lamb's Buffalo Bill. In 1958 he was sent to Central State Hospital. Awaiting to be competent to stand trial. After many trial dates, psychiatrists still believed he was not ready to stand trial. By 1974 he was still in Hospital care. Then in 1978 he was transferred to Mendota Health Institution in Wisconsin where later he died of respiratory failure in 1984. |
