Star Trek Voyager
Star Trek Voyager is based on the original series, and tells the story of a crew and its struggle to get home.  Although the name of the ship gives away the story line, which is alot like Giligians Island (without the humor), the show is great.  The U.S.S. Voyager, an Intrepid class scout ship, under the command of Captain Kathryn Janeway, is hurled 70,000 lightyears from the Alpha Quadrant by the caretaker lifeform. The caretaker is a dieing creature seeking another of its kind to continue caring for a race called the Occompa, which he, or it, accidently harmed.  The caretaker does not live ling enough to hurl Voyager, and another ship belonging to the Maquis back to the Alpha Quadrant.  The Maquis is a outlaw faction at war with the Federation and the Cardasians.  The Maquis vessel is destroyed, forcing the outlawes to become part of the Voyager crew.  Kathryn Janeway, the first female captian in a series, destroyes the only way home for Voyager, because of a dangeous Tetreon particle generator, and chooses for the crew the long way home. A very long way home.  At Voyagers maximum warp speed of warp 9.975, it would take seventy five years to reach home.  The main characters besides the captain, are First Officer Chakotay, the Maquis Captian; Luitenant Commander Tuvok, a Vulcan and Voyagers orignal First Officer; Tom Paris, the ships helmsman and captured Maquis; Harry Kim, a young ensign; Moral Officer Nelix, a Talaxian, native to the Delta Quadrant; Kes, an Occompa and Nelix's mate; B'Elanna Torres, the half human, half Klingon 100% temper Maquis Chief Enginer; the Doctor, a Emergency Medical Hologram who can't choose a name and has a bad bedside manner; and of course the beautiful yet antisocial Seven of Nine, a human who was assimilated by the Borg while only a little girl. These characters, and the rest of the crew, are what makes this show work.  One question lingers, though, If they are stranded in the middle of now where, where do all the shuttles come from?
