SERGEJ JAKOVLEV - painter, member of IFA

I stopped my studies at the technical university in 1980, when I have decided to devote myself to art. My teacher Vitaly Stasevich, on the speciality of Fine Arts at the pedagogical university (where I studied in 1981-1986), helped me to understand that this devotion could be a meaning of my life. The life of my teacher and friend Victor Reikhet, professor of St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (where I studied in 1987-1993), was a complete realization of such meaning. Since 1995 I am a member of Professional Creative Artist's Union of IFA (UNESCO). Now I am a painter in Sweden, president of the non-profit cultural organization International Society of Artists.

Philosophy and Concepts :

Symbolism is direction of Art, which relates a human sense to cosmic harmony.
Since 1989 my art is called Post-symbolism. Herein I am trying to represent my romantic vision of the modern real world. Symbolical ideas are emotionally and mentally closed to all of us. That could be for example the ideas of happiness or sorrow, of light or darkness. I express the Symbolical ideas figuratively, with the figurative and abstract elements together, or abstractedly.

Art is unable to be a server or material. It is also not peculiar to man to be a means. Man is always the purpose.
The personal artist's hand and mind are always recognized in each his/her work, and it is not called a style. It is no correctly to say: the Rembrandt-stile, the Picasso-style, such as it is no right to say about any man: "He /She has lived and died in the style of…"
