| SWAT is a group of highly trained officers who take care of high risk situations. SWAT was orginaly started in Los Angeles. The first SWAT teams were so low budget that they had to use things such as the ever popular mirror on a stick. After the LAPD started their SWAT team other departments formed their own SRT or SWAT teams. Current SWAT teams have more money so the mirror on a stick days are over! Now SWAT teams use automatic weapons, cs gas, flash bangs, and an opi-wand(replaced mirror on a stick). High risk situations may include: 1-Hostage Situations 2-Rapid Response 3-Barricaded Suspect 4-High Risk Warrant Service 5-VIP Protection 6-Sniping Incedents SWAT also has special training in the following areas: 1-Rappelling 2-Climbing 3-Tactical Entrance 4-Suspect Takedown Diffrent offices practice diffrent subjects depending on their needs. There are also diffrent names for SWAT: SWAT- Special Weapons And Tactics SRT-Special Responce Team or Special Reaction Team SWAT is also known by other names. |
