| K-9 units are used for many things in law enforcement. They are mainly used for tracking purposes. This includes drug and bomb sniffing. The dogs can also be used for search and rescue or to hunt down fugitives. Traditionally the main choice of dog for a K-9 unit was a german shepard, but many departments are getting a variety of breeds. There are new kevlar vests for the dogs. They might be man's best friend, but they are a criminal's worst enemy! |
