Design problem is a fit between the form and its context. The form is the solution to the problem; the context defines the problem. Fitness is achieved through the ensemble of the two. This also reinforces the idea that design process allows to changethe system and not just satisfy a need by creating a product. All element within the system are not unique, they are are interrelated and superimposed on each other.
To approach the design problem we need to change the definition of the problem, or in other words reframe the problem. There are two ways we can go:
expand and enlarge the field
impractical idealism
asked to design simple object, instead redesign the city.
This method, in my opinion might be misleading and it is easy to get lost.
net of adaptations to fit one another
The task of design is not to create from, which meets certain conditions, but to create an order in the ensemble. The form is simply the part of the ensemble which we have control over.
We tend to take good design for granted. If a design is good if becomes invisible. It is transparent, it hides behind its function. We only notice design when its wrong. Designers should operate in bounded rationality, which means work within the boundaries to ratioanalise optimum solution and achieve fitness.
