| Chapter 1: That Dream Author: Serenity (Amanda) Email: [email protected] I see something in my dreams Or more like someone it seems I hear the faint cries The image fading away from my eyes Who or what can this be But mostly what does this mean The peaceful silence was suddenly interrupted by the loud gasp of the girl toward the back of the dark room. She lay as still as a rock in her bed with eyes wide open, as if startled by something she saw. �Why the hell is this happening to me?� She whispered to herself so she would not awaken everyone else in the room. Confused and unfocused, she tried to remember everything she just dreamt about and tried to reach for her journal under her bed. As soon as she was ready to write, already more than half of the dream was forgotten. �Damnit, not again. Why the hell do I always forget before I try to write it down? This is already the sixth time it�s happened.� After putting the book away, she lay back down and tried to think of something else. Sooner than expected, she fell quickly back to sleep only to be awakened two hours later by her friend tapping hard on her shoulder. �Mandyyyyyyy, wake up. Wake up. Wake up.� �Already, I just closed my eyes. Please Alan stop tapping me, it�s very annoying.� �Get up, you�ll be late for breakfast again, and I don�t want to deal with your crankiness, especially when you don�t eat.� �Haha, yea whatever. Give me 10 minutes, I�ll meet you downstairs.� �You better, see ya then.� As Amanda got up to fix her bed she looked around the room to see if she found her other friend roaming around, but then realized she was still in her bed with the blanket completely covering her. �Hey Lin, you up� �Uhuh� �You better get up quick, Alan is already waiting for us downstairs. He�ll come back up and bother us if we are not there in 10 minutes.� �Uhuh� Soon enough everyone was downstairs in the noisy dining hall eating their breakfast. �Ah, I caught up on a lot of sleep last night and I feel great. I love the weekends. So girls, how you feeling?� �I�m feeling good, wish I slept longer though. Hey, how did you sleep last night Amanda, I sorta heard you making some noise last night.�? �Well I did have that dream again, but its no big deal really. I went right back to sleep afterwards.� �WHAT�AGAIN, you know if you wanted to you could have looked for me and woken me up.� �No Alan I wouldn�t want to bother you. Like I said, I went right back to sleep�hey im gonna get some more bacon before the line gets any longer. Anyone want extra food?� As soon as Amanda left the table, Alan and Linda start to talk about her situation, and Alan�s situation. �I hate knowing that something is wrong her. She can�t have a decent night sleep without that stupid dream that keeps popping up in her mind. I wish I could do something.� �You know Alan, its kinda sad how she can�t see how obvious you are.� �What are you talking about?� �Don�t act like nothing is going on, you are sooo obvious it�s dumb. I see the way you are with her, and especially how you look at her lately.� �Shut up, you don�t know anything about how I feel so stop assuming.� �Ok then, maybe I can ask her about you and see if she agrees with me.� �NO! Please don�t say anything to her. She doesn�t need more things to worry about. We�ve all known each other forever, I don�t think me and her will be anything more than just friends anyways.� �So you dooooo like her like that, I knew it. Now I really have to do something about this.� �What can you possibly do?� �Oh I have my ways�� �Shhhhhhh�she�s comin.� �Well, that line didn�t take very long. I got the last bit of bacon too, mmmm�lucky me, hehe.�Amanda said as she sat back down with a second helping of breakfast. For a second, Amanda noticed that Linda was just staring at her and Alan was gazing at her with an emotionless expression on his face. After the awkward moment, they all finished their breakfast and headed to the recreation hall. As Alan went to talk with a group of guys, Linda and Amanda went straight to the TV. �Come on Lin, put the news on, I wanna see if there�s anything interesting happening.� �Yea yea. �..�Cool, Sailor Moon is on the news again� �Wow, the scouts saved the day again. They are so to themselves, they never talk on TV, but damn I wish I could be like them and save the day. I wonder who they can really be?� �Well that I don�t think anyone will ever know, but that�s what makes them even more cool. They are so mysterious. I guess it would be cool to live a day as a sailor scout, but I don�t think I would always want to be one.� �Oh why not, they have like super powers. I want super powers, and a cool sailor scout outfit.� �Amanda, you wish you had everything in sight.� �It doesn�t hurt to wish or dream for something.� �Well, this dream you�ve been having lately seems to be hurting you.� �It�s no big deal really. It�s not as bad as when it started, I just wish I could remember more of it.� �What do you remember from the dream?� �Well�I see something, actually more like someone in my dream�.then I hear a faint cry in the background�� ��That�s it. That�s what freaks you out. Anyone would of thought that someone was killing you.� �But that�s the thing, while I�m having that dream�I start feeling like I�m suffocating�and the cries become louder.� �Ok then, that�s a different story. I just thought you were seeing things, but actually feeling something is...well something.� �Hey you never told us that before.� �Alan, how long have you been standing behind us?� �Long enough to know that you never mentioned suffocating before. What else do you feel or see in your dream?� After a long conversation and playing badminton, the three friends had dinner and did whatever they had to do before bedtime. Since there was classes next day and the rest of the week and lots of studying for the upcoming finals, the three would not have as much social time together. But they would always make up for it on the weekends by either hanging in or out of the campus. The week of finals was the most tedious. But they were excited because it meant that they were one step closer to moving into the real world, away from the boarding school that was always known as their home, they�re only home. �So Miss. Torres, how does it feel knowing that in 2 days you will be out on your own?� �Well Mr. Harris, I�m very excited but also a bit scared. I�ve never been out on my own.� �I understand, but I know you�ll do just fine out there. Plus we found the perfect place for you to live. It�s in a great neighborhood, plus many of your other friends will be near by, probably even in your same building.� �Great, I assume there is a job for me too�right?� �Oh yes of course. We try to find the best for all of our students. Good luck and thank you for being a great student in our campus.� �Thank you for having me sir, goodbye� Almost everyone met with Mr. Harris that day concerning their departure from the school. During dinner time, Alan, Linda, and Amanda as always sat together talking about their meeting with the headmaster and about what was soon to be their new life. �Oh this is so great. I can�t believe it�s already been 7 years since we first came here. How time flies. So Lin, did Mr. Harris find a place for you to live on your own or do you have to go back with your parents?� �Well Amanda since you must know, he said that since I was not in great need for a new apartment because of my parent, I sadly have to go back and live there. Of course until I take action and find a place by myself, I don�t think I want to live there for the rest of my life.� �Ooh, I see. How about you Alan, I know they had to find a place for you. What is your address?� �Hmmm let me see�it says 511 Clearwater Ave. I think I know the area too, sounds familiar. How bout you?� �Uhhh mine says�oh crap, 509 Clearwater Ave. That means we�re neighbors, yay!!!� �Awesome that means I can bother you all the time since you�re so close to me. This sounds like it�s gonna be fun, we both can go out a lot too.� �Hmmm you both can go out a lot? What about me, oh I see Alan, you just want to be alone with her don�t ya?� �I�uh I was just kidding. Of course we will all go out together, like it always been.� �Uh huh, sure.�Linda said while raising her eyebrows up and down at a worried looking Alan. Amanda gave a shy smile but then quickly said, �Well anyway, I�m glad that we are finally going to move on to the real world. But to be honest, im gonna miss all this. Just to think we all met 7 years ago in this very table makes me a little sad. I know and continue to hope that our friendship we never be any less than what it is now.� �Me too, you girls are really my only family. I can�t imagine my life without ever knowing you both.� �Hehe, we make this all sound like the world is gonna end tomorrow. The three of us are gonna be so close to one another that we will always see each other. And even though I�m gonna be with my parents does not make it seem like it�s the end of the world, well actually going back home to them is like the end of the world.� After dinner, each of them went to do some more last minute packing before they went to bed. The end of their life in school together was only the beginning to a new life in the real world in which they would have never imagined. |
