With all my Heart
Rei closed her eyes, feeling the soft dirt under her knees, and the still-chilly breeze blowing through her loose hair.
�Grandpa?� a young Rei asked, her wide purpleish eyes staring up at him.
�Yes, Rei?� her grandfather responded, still holding her hand and leading her through the trees of the woods.
�Why did mother have me?�
For the first time in the eight years that Rei had lived with him, she saw him falter, saw him fight back tears. �Because she was your mother, why else?�
�But she died. I thought that we were suppose to be able to see the future. Why did she choose to die if she could see the future?� Rei asked, her eyes growing watery and shaky.
Granpa stopped, and then kneeled down in front of his young granddaughter. �She chose your life over hers because she loved you that much. You meant the world to her, and that�s why she made me promise that I wouldn�t let any harm fall upon you.�
�She didn�t even know me! How could she choose that when she didn�t even know me?!� Rei was growing close to hysterics now.
�She did know you, because she was your mother, and knew that however you turned out, that she would still love you. You might not understand now, but when you�re older, and you find someone you love, someone you want to protect��
Rei only remembered being held after that, and then being brought back to her mothers grave. Where she was now.
�I understand now, mother.� She opened her eyes just a little. �Thank you.�
She turned around quickly when she heard someone crashing through the trees behind her. �REI! Hurry!� A hyper energetic blond with pigtails wailed, running up to her. �Your concert starts in an hour, and we need to get you ready! And don�t forget that after that me and the girls are treating you to a big big feast!�
Rei pretended to glare at her friend. �Are you treating me or yourself.�
�Shut up, Rei.� Blue eyes glared, and Rei chuckled.
I understand with all of my heart now, mother.
