As I sit here weeding through answers to my personals ads, I wonder how I got so behind the curve. Is it that I have grown up or that society has changed? I don't believe that I've become ugly or that my stretch marks have deemed me undatable. What men and women find appeling these days has changed. A smart, talented and assertive female is not what most men are looking for.
Here is a case in point! Last week I had a wild hair somewhere and decided to ditch my person for a younger and sexier model. I put 2 different personal ads on the internet. These ads were less straight to the point than my own personal. I also included two rather steemy pictures. What I found is no matter how old, young, good looking, ogre-ish, skinny, fat, married or single the men were, they seemed to flock to this new person. Whereas I only attracted unattainable (married) men or men way over my age limitations, this younger, sexier model drew everyone. And the numbers were astounding! I only received a handful of reply's, but she on the otherhand, drew hundreds of letters.
My friends and family have been encouraging me to meet new people. They feel that my looks are above average, my age does not show and I'm a caring and loving person. Why then do men have a hard time wanting to meet me?
And what is with this sex thing nowadays? One of the first questions I get is: "can I see your boobs on cam?"!
What kind of question is that? I usually tell them that I'm a lady and that I don't show myself like that to people I don't know. So far I've been called a few choice names, not the least of which are: tease, slut and frigid. I'm not frigid, but I was brought up to believe that my body is mine and that I should take care of it and not show it off to every dog that howls!
I just asked a man who IM'd me why men are so afraid of relationships now. He claims that men are tired of being hurt or used. Can this be how it really is?
I remember being in a bar with my them boyfriend. Women would come up and push between us and go on to flirt with him. He never tried to discourage them, telling me later he didn't want to be rude. Most of the women would grope him right there in front of me. When I would say that we are together, they would look at me, laugh and tell me that they don't care! What kind of sick person would do that? I may never know.
I guess I will have to live in my loneliness until I find it in my heart to let men use and abuse me.
