How many times in a persons life does one come into contact with someone for a few brief minutes, connect with that person, only to walk away?
Here is the scenario.  A woman and her son are on their way to a camping trip with a youth group.  They board a ferry to cross the lake to an island where they will stay for the weekend.  Aboard the ferry, The women looks in the rear view mirror and notices a very good looking man, but brushes it off. The woman and son exit their car to get a better look, and some pictures, of their journey.  The man behind them exits his car and joins the onlookers at the side of the ferry.  His car begins to rock and move towards the womans car.  He jumps in it and applies the brakes and parking brake just before he hits her car.  He gets back out trying to remain cool.  She says to him Thats ok, I need a new bumper, to which he replies but I dont.  From there they talk about why he is on the ferry, so far from where his plates claim to be from.  He replies that this is a side trip because he is interested in geology and the island has some of the last remaining glacial grooves.  She becomes even more interested to learn that the main reason he is in her state, is that he was in a shooting competition the past few days.  They realize they have much in common and manage to talk, non-stop, the entire way!

The ferry pulls up and they hear engines being started.  He says to her Ill see you at the grooves and without thinking she proclaims Im with this youth group and I need to go help set up camp.  He holds out his hand to shake hers.  That magical conversation comes to an end with butterflies in her belly and lightning in her brain.  They drive away.

At camp, the other parents tease her about hooking up only an hour into the trip!  She tells them all about him and they beg her to explain WHY she didnt get his name, number and zodiac sign.  That is when it hits her!  Oh, my gosh, what have I done?  They persuade her, with the help of her son, to go looking for him.  She spends the next half-hour searching the entire island for him.  He is nowhere to be found.  Sadly, she makes her way back to camp.

I just wonder how many people and how many times this happens.  Is this a daily thing, where a person momentarily contacts someone then it slips away.  Perhaps this was one of the people they were destined to be with...only to be thrown away in the matter of a few seconds of a thoroughly blonde moment!
Can we please rewind???
Postscript:  Yes, the woman tried to find him.  She did not know his name, although she did know his hometown, his hobby, his profession and saw a parking sticker for a college on the car.  She looked through the internet and posted messages to several shooting clubs in his state. She received an email from a man his shooting club, said he will let him know somebody is looking for him.  But a few weeks later, still hasn't heard anything more!  Will keep you posted!
