Over the years, the word nymphomaniac has been overused to the point that there is no longer a clear-cut distinction between a healthy sexual being and a nympho. Now a days it is fine to flaunt any sexual urges, attractions and kinks. Way back when, if you went any farther than the missionary position, you were considered to be outside the norm. A good sexual appetite by todays standards constituted a nymphomaniac tendency years ago.
But what exactly is the norm these days? Gauging by the amount of sites geared towards non-vanilla sexual activities, Id say that the new norm consists of oral and anal sex, role play, using toys, lingerie, kama sutra variations of the sexual positions.
Unless you live under a rock......or just dont watch daytime talk shows, you know that Sting is the father of the newfound Tantric sex. Legend has it that he makes love to dear Trudy for hours! When I say hours, I MEAN HOURS! I envy Trudy!
As far as what constitutes a nympho these days, must somehow still encompass what our male dominated society classifies as such. It possibly still holds true that women who are promiscuous (how many partners does it take to claim promiscuity?), still are classified as nymphos. But I hear many times, from men, that they personally consider a woman who takes over in bed, to be a nympho. Others tell me that women who enjoy sex MORE than they do, are nymphos.
Maybe it would just suffice to say that while trends are changing, we in a male dominated society still hold dear to the belief that men can do as they want, but women are held to age old standards. Ive been told that there is a theory to all of this! That men were not made to be monogamous. They were made to go forth and spread their seed. Women are meant to nest, thus more geared to monogamy. There will always be those men who stick to monogamy, for whatever reason. Also there are women who will adhere to the lifestyle of being promiscuous. Who is right and who is wrong?
Unless there is a global moratorium on sexual lifestyles, practices and positions, maybe we should all just keep our comments about others sexuality in our own bedrooms, dungeons, elevators, etc. |
