OPETH - STILL LIFE

Opeth has been one of my favorite bands for several years now. Their epic length songs strung together with elaborate changes and brilliant use of classical guitar and the occasional clean vocals have tapped a vein that no one else has really explored in music today. Still Life showcases their talent for creating emotional landscapes with their song structure. Classical guitar combined with heavy riffs and screams combined with singing makes this one unique. Slower on the whole than their past releases, this one is their best. Their biggest strengths are able to shine here. Expect a slew of copycat bands after Opeth goes on their first US tour this spring. (PEACEVILLE) -MB
