Once you have chosen a patron deity you should try and get as close to this god or goddess as possible. (Remember that the more you interact with this god or goddess, the more of their traits will start to manefest within you).
As a worshiper of this god or goddess you should try and honor this deity throughout your lifetime. I suggest setting up a little altar to this god or goddess. Once you do this do NOT use this space for magick. It will be a temple where your god or goddess will come to you and help you through your spiritual path and magickal journey. At least once a week try to light a stick (or whatever you have) of incense and a candle (appropriate color) to this god or goddess. Then, Imagine that you are sitting/standing in a temple or shrine of this god or goddess. (The Celtic gods should be more out doors [like a grove] and the greek and roman gods should be more in doors.) It doesnt have to be historicly accurate because you are the only one who will be using this temple. Imagine before you a large square altar. On one side of this altar there is an eternal flame, and on the other side of this alter, there is a large standing brazeir. Now place this temple on top of the place you are in. Just imagine the room you are in become the temple. If your temple is to big for the room-- Ignore the earthy walls. The brazeir replaces your incense and the eternal flame your candle. Everything you do should be mirrored in this temple. Infront of this altar (in your temple) should be a statue of your god or goddess. Imagine it growing bigger and bigger until it is life sized. Then imagine it coming to life. You can then speak with this god or goddess. Remember not to try and make up things in your head-- just let the conversation between you two flow. May cults have been started by people thinking they heard a deity say something that was really just their subconcious speaking. Once you get good at this you should actually see the tempple where you are. Remember that the greatest sacrafice you can give to the gods is your time and effort. Good Luck! May the Gods Bless! |
