A psalm. For giving thanks.
come before him with joyful songs.
we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving
give thanks to him and praise his name.
I know people who have given up looking at the news. It seems that the more they look at the reports about world events and the economy the more depressed they get. While I don't fully endorse the ostrich approach, I do believe that we need to do what we can to maintain a proper attitude and outlook. The world that David lived in wasn't always perfect. David learned the secret of keeping his focus on God and not on his circumstances. We can choose how we respond to the events that happen around us. When we choose to believe that God is greater than any of our problems and that His is active in our lives we can make better choices with our responses. Our problem is that we don't want to respond, we want to be in control. We actually believe that if we were in control this world would be a better place, despite any evidence to back up that assumption. While David may have held the office of King he knew who was in control. His response to that knowledge was to worship and praise the One who was worthy. All of the things of this world that get us down are only temporary. The God of all eternity is the God who cares for you and me. That's worth some Praise!
The "Call to Prayer" is a weekly feature of Sequim Worship Center, written by Pastor Dave Westman, calling people to an understanding of the importance of prayer in our lives and our relationship with God.
