Our Projects
It is a Chinese tradition for family and friends of an expectant family to donate scraps of material to make up a quilt. Along with the material a good wish is included so that when the quilt is finished it is a quilt filled with good wishes to wrap the new baby in. It has become a popular tradition for the China Adoption community as well. Coming Soon - Photos of our completed quilts!
Besides having our heads in the clouds dreaming about our Little Ones so very far away, the Dim Sum-mers have planned some special projects to help pass the time. Interested in a project? Just click on the link!
Shhhhh...it's a secret...Secret Pal, that is!
(If you are just joining our group and would like to play in our secret pal gift exchange, Wanda can still match you with another late joiner.) Here is how it works: Everybody tries to send a little something each month to your secret pal even if it is just a card, token gift, or whatever you feel your pal would like. It can be anything from a card, stickers for scraping, to an outfit.... Anything to bring a smile during the wait. As the wait gets tougher it is so nice to go to the mailbox and see a package or card from your secret pal. You really don't have to put much money in it at all. Anything is appreciated by your secret pal...I promise. The best part is sending...so much fun. Interested? E-mail the following information to Wanda. Name Address Age/sex Requested...also the name of the baby if you are 100% sure you will use it. Nursery theme Hobbies All these will give an idea to your secret pal of what to send. Right before referrals get here we will reveal our secret pal to each other.
Read a Good Book Lately?
100 Best Wishes Quilt Project
We hope to read a book each month and then chat about it at a designated time. Each month a poll will be issued with five different books ranging in topic from the history and culture of China to raising our daughters and maybe even a little fiction by Chinese authors. There will also be a children's book selection for those wanting to build their children's libraries. We will have about a week to vote on our selection. So far, the books that have been chosen are: October's Selection: The Waiting Child: How the Faith and Love of One Orphan Saved the Life of Another by Cindy Champnella When You Were Born In China by Sara Dorow Chat: tbd

Hooray ~ We Did It!!!!
Back in November, we were challenged to raise funds for the Hands of Hope wall. In two short months and a lot of motivation from Chris, our project coordinator, we raised $1,000! We ended up collecting enough money that our DTC group name will appear on the brass dedication plaque on the Hands of Hope wall, in commemoration of our contribution!
