Cloud Strife, the main character, is an ex-soldier, who fought with the great Sephiroth.  He uses a giant sword to attack, and is 21 years old.

Tifa Lockheart, she owns the Seventh Heaven bar where AVALANCHE has their hideout.  She grew up with Cloud and uses gloves as weapons.

Barret Wallace, the leader of AVALANCHE, his hometown was burned because of suspicion of terrorists, he has a gun on his arm.
