Through this ministry, I
express love by honoring God through service for humanity. I touch the
lives of many hurting people; such as, homeless, handicapped, rejected,
addicted, lonely, oppressed, suicidal, unwanted, abused, sickly, and abandoned
persons. I do this because, as James puts it, "Faith by itself, if
it is not accompanied by action, is dead" (Jas.
As the facilitator of
In addition, just as Christ
gave up His life for us on the cross, I too give up my "practical"
life as a ransom for many. As the founder of
Furthermore, in order to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to all people
(especially outcasts and youth), this ministry develops in response to the
needs of individuals, groups, and communities. This ministry consists of
feeding the hungry; clothing the naked; healing the sick (through Christ's
transforming power); quenching the thirsty; counseling the hurting; providing
shelter for the homeless; and transportation for the immobile. While
directing individuals to faith in Christ, this ministry also helps meet their
emotional, mental, and physical needs. Many recipients of the services
provided consist of drug addicts, alcoholics, criminals, belligerent teens, and
other minorities with low self-esteem, manic depression (bi-polar disorder),
and schizophrenia.
Moreover, this ministry plans social gatherings for many people in order to
encourage them, counsel them through their problems, and introduce them to
faith in Jesus Christ. In effect, this ministry conducts many different
therapeutic groups in order to establish mutual support systems for hurting
people. As the director of this ministry, I lift the morale of every
person who attends these groups because my smile, positive attitude, and upbeat
approach to life give them a reason to possess what I have: Jesus Christ.
People become interested in learning about my faith because they can see Jesus
shining through my character. They are eager to experience the
enlightenment I have because they know my Christian transformation is
"genuine."
As the leader of this ministry, I designate specific days of the week to
encourage specific age groups. For example, on weekdays, after school
lets out, kids and teenagers congregate at my apartment. We play games,
listen to music, make crafts, and discuss Jesus. Then, on Saturdays,
several adults meet at a local pizza shop for lunch. After I pay the
bill, we gather at my apartment to discuss specific topics; such as,
perseverance, forgiveness, salvation, recovery, healing, development, and faith
in Jesus Christ. We share personal stories regarding temptations,
struggles, and hardships we face and discuss biblical ways to handle our
problems. Our time together is one of beneficial growth and spiritual
enrichment.
