God’s Principle of Working
All of
the following are true:
1) Bible speaks about money
2) The Bible is the single best book on finances
3) Achieving financial freedom is directly tied to your view
of work
4) Don’t become addicted to working too much because it may
make you lonely
Genesis 1:27-28
God created
man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he
created them. God blessed them and said
to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it.
Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living
creature that moves on the ground.”
-
Since God created us
in his own image, then He wants what’s best for us (enough money to live a
satisfying life).
Proverbs 6:9-11
How
long will you lay there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your
sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber,
a little folding of the hands to rest--
and
poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man.
-
God tells us that if
we are lazy and don’t take work seriously, He won’t bless us with enough money
to live a satisfying lifestyle.
Proverbs 26:14
As a
door turns on its hinges, so a sluggard turns on his bed.
-
God tells us we won’t
make anything out of ourselves if we don’t work and are lazy.
Collossians 3:23-25
Whatever you do, work at
it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know
that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord
Christ you are serving. Anyone who does
wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism.
-
Are you working for
God or are you working for man? Are you
using your talents at work? Are you
working too much? Are you burning
yourself out? Are you working too
little? Are you becoming lazy?
-
This is my challenge
for you: When you work, pretend that God is your boss. This way, you won’t work too much and you
won’t work too little (just take work seriously).
