The Power of God’s Love
Obstacles to Letting
God Love You (these things won’t get you God’s love):
1) You say, “I can earn God’s love.”
- by helping old ladies across the street
- by giving money to the poor
- by being kind spirited
2) You say, “My family doesn’t love me unconditionally so how could God love me unconditionally?”
- you think that you’ve made too many mistakes in your life
- you’ve learned your whole life that you could only be loved if…
3) You say, “I’ll become religious”
- you think that going to church is enough for God
- you think that dropping money in the offering plate will get God to love you
- you think that wearing a cross around your neck is enough for God’s love
4) you say, “I’ve done way too many sinful things in my lifetime”
- you think that because you lie that God doesn’t love you
- you think that because you cheat that God doesn’t love you
- you think that because you slander other people that God doesn’t love you
5) You say, “I don’t need God because I’ve got me”
- you close the door to your heart and you say, “God, I don’t need you!”
How to Let God Love
You:
1) Remember that love starts with God and not with you
- Luke
2) Understand that God loved you even before you were born
- Psalm 139:13
3) Recognize that God gave His best for you
-
He offers us forgiveness through His son Jesus Christ
(John
4) Admit your hurtful actions toward God
- apologize to God for all the hurtful actions you have done
6) Receive God’s love as a free gift
- Romans 6:23
This is my challenge for you: open the door to your heart and let Christ come in.
