HOW TO SHARE CHRIST’S

LOVE WITH OTHERS

1)      Treat the people you serve as if they were guests in your own home.  Welcome them with a smile.  Introduce yourself freely and say, “Good Morning/ Afternoon/ Evening” or “How are you feeling today?”  Always treat them with respect and remember to say, “Please” and “Thank You.”  If you are entering or exiting a room, hold the door and allow them to enter/ exit first.  Be thoughtful in all you do in order to gain their trust.

2)      Be a good listener.  Do not listen to respond.  Rather, listen to be informed.  Make good eye contact with the people you serve and do not interrupt them when they are speaking.  Listen actively to understand their words, intent, and feelings.  Validate what you heard them say by repeating back to them in your own words.

3)      Anticipate the wants and needs of the people you serve.  Be aware and sensitive to their culture.  Be careful not to present a negative message to them with your words and/ or body language.  Speak to them on a level in which they can relate/understand.

4)      When encountering a person who is dissatisfied, acknowledge their concerns, listen to their complaints, and take necessary action to help resolve the problem.  Do not take their complaint personally, or as a criticism of you, do not argue, and avoid defensive response.

5)      Respect the privacy and confidentiality of the people you serve.  Never slander nor gossip.  It serves no positive result and is unacceptable behavior for Christians to engage in.

6)      Strive to master the skills needed to do your best for the people you serve.  Identify better ways to serve God’s people.  Act as an example or role model for others to live by.  Promote yourself as a compassionate and loving follower of Jesus.

7)      Be the best representative of God’s you can be.  Positively represent Him in your workplace, home, and community.  Represent Him with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and self-control.  Avoid judging, condemning, and blaming others.  Speak positively.
