Forgiveness

 

Forgiveness n 1: compassionate feelings that support a willingness to forgive 2: the act of excusing a mistake or offense [syn: pardon]

 

Without Forgiveness: People will go into a deep relational disaster

1)      Disappointment sets in

2)      Hurts and anger surface

3)      Resentment takes root

4)      Bitterness surfaces

5)      Invulnerability is discovered- you say, “This is who I am and you’re not going to change me.  Period!”

6)      Alienation is conceived- you don’t want to be a part of anyone anymore

 

Understand the Principle of Forgiveness:

1)      Luke 17:3 (if someone sins, let them know they did something wrong, then forgive them)

2)      Misconception with this verse:

-         If someone sins, “Yell at him.”

-         If someone sins, “Ignore him.”

-         If someone sins, “Reject him.”
