It Takes Courage to Make a Difference
< ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
Ways You've demonstrated courage:
- Weighed myself in public
- Let someone else drive my car
- Slept in a sleeping bag with spiders
- Said, "No!" to a salesman

HOW CAN YOU LIVE COURAGEOUSLY?

1) Own up to your sin.
- If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves
and the truth is not in us (1 John 1:8).
- You'll never succeed in life if you try to hide your
sins (Proverbs 28:13).
- Admit your faults to one another and pray for each
other so that you may be healed (James 5:16).

* A good reason for owning up to your sin:
- It's not like God doesn't already know!
- It helps me take responsibility for my actions
- It moves me out of denial
- It is a step toward experiencing forgiveness

2) Stand up for what's right.
- Stand true to what you believe.  Be courageous.  Be
strong (1 Corinthians 16:13).
- Sure, those people appear to be having a good time,
but all that laughter will end in heartbreak (Proverbs 14:13).
- Let Your love, God, shape my life.  Then I will be able
to stand up to mockery because I trust Your Word and
Your wisdom.  I will tell the world what I find and speak out boldly in public, unembarrassed (Psalms 119:41, 45, 46).

* One area where You'd like to take a stronger stand:

3) Speak up for Christ.
- God doesn't want us to be shy with His gifts, but
bold, loving, and sensible.  So don't be embarrassed
to speak up for our Master  (2 Timothy 1:7-8).
- Do not be ashamed to tell people about our Lord Jesus  (2 Timothy 1:8).
- Always be ready to speak up and tell anyone who asks
why you're living the way you do, and always do it with utmost courtesy (1 Peter 3:15).

* Your strongest motivation to speak up for Christ:
- After all He's done for you, how can I keep quiet?
- I want others to have what I've experienced
- It's a demonstration of my gratitude to God
- He speaks up for me

HOW TO BUILD YOUR COURAGE:

1) Go public.
- For I am not ashamed of this good news about Christ
(Romans 1:16)

2) Pray for boldness.
- Pray and ask God to give me the right words to say
as I boldly tell others about the Lord (Ephesians
6:20)

* The person you most want to talk with about what God has done for you: _________________________________

3) Expect God to use you.
- I expect and hope that I will have the courage now,
as always, to show the greatness of Christ in my life
here on earth (Philemon 1:20).
- Be strong and courageous!  Don't be afraid or discouraged.  For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go (Joshua 1:9).

* One way you want to see God use your life: ________________________________

4) Remember the end of the story.
- Take courage, for the coming of the Lord is near
(James 5:8).
- You have courage because you have hope in the Lord  (James 11:18).
- If anyone is ashamed of Me [Jesus] and My words, the
Son of man will be ashamed of him when God comes in His glory (Luke 9:26).
