Control Your Tongue:

James 3:3-12, 2 Timothy 2:16, 1 Peter 4:11

 

A)    Control your desire to say what you should not

1)      Negative words- “Your no good at anything!”

2)      Offensive words- “I’m better than you!”

3)      Attacking words- “Do it my way, or else!”

 

B)    Is what your about to say:

1)      Nice or hurtful?

2)      Encouraging or damaging?

3)      Uplifting or putting down?

 

C)    The Holy Spirit

1)      Purifies our hearts

2)      Gives us the proper words to say when our human nature wants to say the exact opposite

 

This is my challenge for you: be controlled by the Spirit, not by your sinful nature.
