Constantly Pursue God
Matthew 5
13
"You
are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be
made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out
and trampled by men.
14
"You
are the light of the world. A city on a
hill cannot be hidden.
15
Neither
do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives
light to everyone in the house.
16
In
the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good
deeds and praise your Father in heaven.
Philippians 1
6
He
who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of
Christ Jesus.
We, as Christians, are salt and light to the earth. If we are not constantly pursuing God, our actions will turn away from Him and we will become useless. For example, (1) If we do not read and study God’s Word everyday, we will most likely fall away from our Christian faith. This is because the Bible is food, which provides spiritual nourishment for our daily walk with Jesus. (2) If we do not pray and talk to God regularly, we will most likely fall away from our Christian faith. This is because prayer is our lifeline to God (we are not alone with the burdens and problems we have; God will help us, but we must ask Him first). (3) If we do not share and tell others about Jesus, we will most likely fall away from our Christian faith. This is because we are called to be messengers for Christ’s sake. (4) If we do not meet and fellowship with other followers of Jesus for prayer, Bible study, praise and worship, etc., we will most likely fall away from our Christian faith. This is because God does not intend for us to be alone in our walk with Him.
This is my challenge for you: constantly pursue God in all areas of your life (your talents, emotions, behavior, thought process, speech, attitude; etc.).
