WHY ARE THE PROTESTANT & CATHOLIC
BIBLES DIFFERENT?
Ř If you read the last two
verses in 2nd Macabes, in the Roman Catholic Bible, you will better understand
why they are different.
1) Canon
of Scripture
a. List
of writings accepted as the Bible in 397 A.D. at the Council in
b. Is the norm or rule used to determine which writings belong in the Holy Bible
c. Although Hebrews, Jude, 2 Peter, 2 John, and Revelation were among the books whose canonicity was often disputed, these books eventually became very widely accepted as part of the Canon of Scripture.
2) To ensure proper validity, the Roman emperor, Constantine, had fifty copies of the Bible hand-written in the 4th century church.
3) In 1517, during the Protestant Reformation, Martin Luther King did not accept the Apocrypha (Deutero Canonical books) that Roman Catholics use. He protested against the Roman Catholic Church. As a result, the Protestant faith began.
4) Compared to the Holy Bible, the extra books in the Catholic Bible (Apocrypha/ Deutero-Canonical) have always been considered secondary or lesser books. The Apocrypha is a secondary canon used to encourage people’s faith. It is for this reason the Apocrypha should never be placed above the Bible.
