Garb, or What to Wear?
What on earth is "garb"?
"Garb" is a term in the SCA that refers to the clothing, or costume, you wear at an SCA event.  Many people make their own garb.  Some simply buy what they like from the many talented garb vendors in the SCA.  Still others use whatever passes for acceptable.  That last one is perfectly fine, since they're often heavily involved in other aspects of the Society.
Some people like to make garb that sticks closely to the time and place of their persona.  Others like to experiment with different times and places.   Personally, I like to experiment.
The bylaws of the SCA state that anyone can attend an SCA event, provided that he or she "make an attempt" at Pre-17th Century clothing.  That's all very well, but what constitutes an attempt?  Pretty much anything that looks medieval or renaissance.  These days, medieval/renaissance-type clothing can be found all over the place.  Got a Hot Topics in the mall?  Try there.  Or, you can check out some of the information below.

Currently, only descriptions and some details, but I'll get around to including pictures one day.
