Built from 1925 through 1986, Divco delivery trucks were once as much a part of American life as mom's apple pie and sand-lot baseball games. Early every morning the milkman brought country fresh dairy products to the door: milk, cream for your coffee, and ice cream as well. The truck that replaced his old horse was probably a Divco. Chances are the laundry man, the breadman and maybe even the paperboy's routeman also drove a Divco. They were the quintessential icon of multi-stop services in the 20th Century.

Well, Divcos are still around today--with the collector! On May 31 -June 3, 2001, there was a joint convention of the National Association of Milk Bottle Collectors and the Divco Club of America at the Holiday Inn in Hershey/Grantville, PA. We had 17 vehicles plus 3 smaller children's versions either motorized or pedal cars. This year the field was expanded and included other makes/models of multi-stop delivery vehicles.

1921 (or so) Milk Wagon owned by Rutter's Dairy, York, PA. This is a milk wagon typical of that era.

1927 Chevrolet 2-door Sedan owned by Rutter's Dairy, York, PA. A car like this was the first motorized vehicle used for Rutter's milk delivery.

1929 Model G owned by Doug and Ted Merritt, Rocky Hill, NJ - Merritt Brothers

1936 Thorne C-1 (Gas and Electric) owned by Rutter's Dairy, York, PA. This was the ONLY truck of this model that was ever produced.

1946 Model UM6 owned by Rosenberger Dairies Inc., Hatfield, PA, with matching squat rod & motorized child's truck

1947 Model UM owned by David Roderick, Dartmouth, MA - New Bedford Creamery plus a small motorized version
