Sentinel Song by Julya Sents big and strong Leave your ale and gather around Let me sing you a song A tune to make your heart pound A song to make you feel proud For my praise is for thee I can say this clear and out loud A Sentinel is what I want to be So gather around and let me recite Of the first time I went to bash And of how I admire thy might Saving me before being burned to ash The rock forbiddingly loomed And feeling waves of apprehension I couldn't help to feel doomed I pressed on with lots of tension Entering the lair of despair I morphed into a dogs next of kin Noticing a fearsome smell in the air I concentrated on a bark-like skin Hyena's laugh I entered from the north It was but a laugh of exhilaration On the ground a mask, but I went forth Searching my first foe with deliberation Then I found the stranger in front of me A cloaked one with a mask Not of a race I knew, I could see I quickly grasped for my flask I took a chance and clawed with all might Trying to strike and kill in one go But I missed and almost lost my fight As the figure swung its dagger low Hurt and shocked I stumbled Took a swig from my health drink My resolve it kind of crumbled And it became difficult to think The cultist struck drawing more blood And I backed up trying to avoid the blow This foe appeared to be too good A hesitation and another cut that hurt me so I was bleeding out and crumbled to the floor Death came swiftly I could not avoid it in this lair I despaired, was about to knock on Sarapis' door Hesitating, I listened to conversation in the air Cub down in the rock to a cultist, it bled I heard the anxious voices in my head Someone came, took my body and fled I tried to speak but nothing could be said "Gate and Rezz" boomed through the land My rescue was being shouted through the skies My broken body was held tenderly in hand Then I breathed again and opened my eyes My gratitude was enormous I hugged all around My housemates had saved me without any thought Now I was hale again, among the living and sound I am certain now that I have found what I sought For a Sentinel is I want to be Belong to these protectors of nature To have my friends around me Belong to this family so pure Drink and make merry before we have to go Because forests do burn so easily And remember that fire is our biggest foe So drink one on me, Sentinels, my family
