brought to you by Reiye
Date: 9/10/2005 at 20:30 From: Reiye To : Everyone Subj: Mystery Hunt A slight note, there's a mystery that will run throughout year 402. Details may be found in a letter by the event manuscript at the Rotunda (the letter also holds the first clue). Prize may be up to 30 credits. All Sentinels are welcome to participate. -Reiye --------------------------------------------- SENTINELS NEWS #7649 Date: 9/24/2005 at 20:20 From: Reiye Wildfang To : Everyone Subj: Mystery Finish For those of you who are wondering, Tow is the one and only winner of the mystery. He wins 30 credits, a hawk plumed armband, a golden rose stud, and a piece of creamy chocolate cake. A step by step guide to the riddle for those who were curious. The letter at the Rotunda links to news post 3657, or 7563 as it should be as Le-Le tends to mix up numbers. That leads the House lodge, where three letters are located. One was a red herring. Another spoke about Le-Les dislike of keeping things written down and keeping as record as well as him doing research about Sentinel history in the House Estate, which leads to a letter in the Library. It also spoke that he visited Taurelasse the Artist in Eleusis, where another letters lay. The one in the Library speculates about Le-Le and his firefighting class, as well as about possibilities for storing his items such as by a code in a shop. The one at Taurelasse hints that someone named Mr. L rejected a jewelry gift because it was frippery. The other letter in the Lodge led to visiting Talyesen, Demeters prophet. It gave a hint for the password - Pel.'t.n. After you PROBE Talyesen, you see he wears a Peletan of the Wildwood. All this should lead you to the House shop (as indicated by the library letter). There, a letter says you are in the correct place. If you did some research into shops and codes or passwords, you will notice that shops with bins can have the option to allow access to a bin by a code. Thus, WARES CODE Peletan would allow you to see the five items for display. A bucket with water, hawk plumed armband, golden rose stud, journal and a piece of creamy chocolate cake were the options. All but the bucket with water and cake could be easily eliminated from previous clues. The letter in the library indicates that Le-Le teaches firefighting lessons so of course, the item missing should be his trusty old bucket. -Reiye Penned by my hand on the 11th of Daedalan, in the year 403 AF. --------------------------------------------- Letter at Rotunda: You read what is written on a silvery blue letter: Le-Le the Sentinel has unfortunately misplaced a rather important item. Unfortunately, he's getting on in the years, and has a habit of forgetting things. Even his dates.. or was that numbers, he's often saying them backwards. In fact, he's even forgotten what item it was he lost! All Le-Le remembers is that he visited the House lounge on the day he misplaced it. Care to help him? He's offering a prize of uh... 30 credits. It'll be paid through Reiye, provided that you find what he wants. Who knows, there might even be an additional prize in it. Be careful.. pick the wrong item, and he'll be offended and ignore any further attempts to help him. He'd also like to know why you think that item is his (I'm afraid he has slight ego issues as well). What? You haven't heard of a House lounge? Oh.. ah.. Le-Le says that directions are found in Sentinels post.. 3657? Have fun Sents! Confused? Need clarification? Ask Reiye. She doesn't bite. (Bluntly? There are five items that are possibilities, which appear at the same place. Message/mail a letter to Reiye of your guess, once you find them. You must tell why it can only be that item. One guess only, so be sure. Winner will be announced at end of 202.) Letters in Sentinel Lodge: 1) A crumpled up note is here, opened up it reveals a delicate feminine scrawl. 'Meet me at the swing in 'leusis at midnight. If I can't make it, checkout the package I left; usual procedure, b'red 'neath it.' 2) An errant scrap of paper seems to be a list of areas. The paper is worn down and is written in a barely legible script. 'Vis.. niece... go wi.. her to visit D..eter's prophet.. that o.. uh.. Ta..esen fellow.. .ad an id.a f.r pa.sw..d. Eureka! G.nn. us. Pel.'t.n Th.n off t-' The rest of the paper is an unintelligible. 3)A forgotten letter is here, written neatly although a few stray marks hint to the rushed nature of the note. 'Found Sarapis' grove! Awesome! Okay, so maybe I didn't find it.. but hey, Mr. L - you know the one with the funny name we always laughed about - was cool 'nough to show it to me. Neat, eh? Not much really though, just a wilderness one (figures right). He laughed at me when I was writing this down though, 'pparently doesn't trust writing things down. Codger. Most paranoid bugger I've ever seen either. Whatever. He just came in from visiting Taure-something, that artist in Eleusis and just asked me if I wanted to go. Then he took off as soon as we came back, said he had to do research about Sentinel history in the Estate. Me, I slept for awhile and worked on that essay I have for the order, you remember? I swear, those requirements are going to kill me. But if I make it.. man, it'll be worth it. Geez this is getting long, talk to you later. -P' Letter at Taurelasse 'Silver armband desired by Mrs. S Ms. X sent to Tasur'ke for ear piece of pearl. Charm bracelet ordered by Mrs. Na, comes with charms ordered from Shallam. Mrs. R orders sapphire necklace. Mr. S sent to Ashtan for locket after inquiry. Ring donated after Mr. L refuses gift, citing jewelry as 'frippery'. Count minus a silver ring, given to Miss M for helping in a pinch. Broken armband, Mrs. J refuses to purchase a new one despite recommendation. Custom anklet sold to Mr. Ni for 6000 gold. Mottled armband sold to Miss Y for 4000 gold.' Library letter This note holds a narrow, cramped script. Underneath it is a messier scrawl, and the pattern repeats. It is oddly out of place in a library. 'Grumpy old Le-Le. So old-fashioned. I think he needs a wife.' "He's not so bad. I liked his firefighting class, even with the basics. It was good, even for those who weren't Sents." 'I guess. Doesn't he have anything though? He's always nattering on about how he never stores anything on him so thieves can't get him.' "Not a clue. Probably has something stored in the shop, it's a pretty good safeguard." 'It can't be -that- safe though can it? I mean, what's to stop someone from buying peoples' stuff?' "Oh come on, you know there's a code for the items." 'Right, forgot that.' "Better get rid of this, mentor's coming." Letter in shop: Oh me, oh my, are we close now? But alas.. there's something you need! A password? A code perhaps? But what could it be? Ah, would be so easy if that darn script was legible! And you silly people, not everything is seen at first glance. In fact, sometimes you have to look at someone more carefully to see what you need. But I'm afraid I have divulged far too much so.. good luck, have fun, and remember not every clue is a clue!
