Story Contest

You spot Goldtail, the giant golden eagle, just to the north of the library, reading over some parchments. As you draw near, he looks up at you and winks one fierce brown eye. "I don't suppose you're interested in are story contest, are you? It was an idea of Falcir's and Lilac took a liking to it. Want to give it a try?" He hands you a list of the requirements.

Topic: No current topic. Email Lilac to suggest one.
Length: At least 500 words (which is roughly a page in length). More than 500 is permitted.
Deadline: None at this time

Watch for these!

Spelling

You'll be judged on how good your spelling is. If your not sure, check a dictionary or use the spell checker on your computer.

Paragraph breaks

Does everything run together in one giant paragraph or do you begin a new paragraph when the thought changes or when a different character starts speaking. Apply your English lessons, folks!

Grammar and punctuation

Use the proper tenses for the situation, and don't forget your periods, commas, and all those other fun things!

Originality

Be original! Don't take one of Brian Jacques plots and modify it. Not everyone can have their parents killed by vermin (or goodbeasts) and then strike out on revenge! Have your own unique story!

Characters

The use of Sentinels is greatly encouraged! Use as many of them as you can. If you're unsure about using someone else's character, ask them about it. You are free to use the Officers (Lilac, Squirrel Bros., Bren, etc.) however you wish.

Your story will be judged on how well you meet the requirements listed above. Points will be distributed in each category, depending on how well they're all met.
Email the finished stories to Lilac at [email protected]. Put "Story Contest" in the subject heading, so Lilac knows what it's for.
