Senshi University: storyline

It has been nearly fifteen-thousand years since the eternally-young woman now known as Neo-Queen Serenity roused the icy planet from its dormancy and reawakened the human race from the second Ice Age. Crystal Tokyo, the capital of the world, rises up from the country like a glittering diamond, reminiscent of the mystical crystal that lies within its very heart. The middle of the fortieth century is at hand.

Time seems to pass slow for most citizens of Crystal Tokyo, the most technologically-advanced and magically-enhanced city of the time, but it passes even more slowly for the monarchy and the trusted guardians, the sailor senshi. There has not been an attack on the city for many, many years, and no great danger is forseen. It is a time of peace and prosperity, watched over by the gentle cerulean eyes of the sovereign queen of the known universe and the startling sapphire eyes of her beloved and king.

The sailor senshi have settled into a comfortable, easy-going lifestyle at the Crystal Palace. Finally, war is a distant memory and peace is the reality. The hectic days of constant battles and the stress of daily life are replaced by eons of relaxation and friendship. Life is bliss; reality a paradise so perfect it causes its inhabitants to question it as merely a dream.

As time passes on and the peace continues, Neo-Queen Serenity and her beloved friends and confidants have begun to plan for the future. Peace, idyllic as it may seem, may not last eternally, as the sailor senshi of legend well know, and they want to leave the future well-protected. Despite their nearly-immortal life spans, there will come a time when their powers will no longer be sufficient: new sailor senshi are essential to the conservation of the future. Although the now-teenage Princess Small Lady Serenity has her quartet of guardian soldiers, they are not enough to ensure world safety.

Thus it has been decided that senshi of the future will be sought out. Teenagers and children are tested for senshi potential routinely during school final exams. Those who are discovered to possess the brilliant glow of a Sailor Crystal are sent summons to the palace, for they are about to embark on a mandatory new chapter of their lives. They have just been enrolled by the government in the Senshi University.

Senshi University was first dreamed up by the studious Mizuno Ami, also known as Sailor Mercury. When Neo-Queen Serenity proposed the idea of seeking out unawakened sailor senshi from the general population, it was the intelligent blue-haired girl who suggested the idea of a private government academy designed specifically to train and teach those who would hold the future within their hands. It was met with great approval, and four days later the plans for the school had been blueprinted and construction was underway. A wing of the Crystal Palace, previously the apartments of the Sailor Team, was renovated to house the classrooms and school dormitory, while an addition was added for the Sailor Team to live in. In just a little over a year, Senshi University was ready for students.

The mandatory testing had begun the year before, with noteworthy youths documented and under discreet constant surveillance. Each member of the Sailor Team was designated to teach a certain subject, to insure that the curriculum satisfied educational standards, but Senshi University focuses on more than just scholastic knowledge. Everything is in order: letters of acceptance have been mailed to the students mentioned in last year's Future Senshi Report, the Senshi University wing of the Crystal Palace has been scrubbed until it shines, and uniforms have been ordered.

Everyone is merely waiting for the charter class to arrive.
