Michiru gasped when the speaker sparked a bit. Funny, this was Haruka's idea, to buy a karaoke machine and invite all the girls over for a party. And here she was fixing Haruka's damn equipment. "Michiru, how's it coming?" Haruka asked. "Do you want the truth, or the nice version?" Michiru grumbled. "What, dear?" "It's fine!" Michiru called in a fake, sing-song voice. She was fairly irritated. Fortunately, she'd gotten the speaker to stop sparking and hoped it was fixed. She rose up from her spot on the floor and dusted her skirt off. "Haruka, I would've appreciated your help since that was YOUR machine." Haruka was more interested in playing host than what Michiru was saying. "I appreciate it, dear. Are you going to wear that? Or are you going to change?" Michiru bit her tongue, restraining from hitting Haruka in her thick head. "I guess I could change." She turned on her heels and started towards their room. Haruka pat her bottom as she walked, "Get happy, the girls will be here in a few minutes!" Michiru sighed. She couldn't stay mad for too long at Haruka. Haruka loved her, she knew it. This was just how she was. 'I'll be a good girlfriend tonight.' She thought as she entered their bedroom. - - - - - - "Come on Odango, it's your turn." Haruka grinned, "Grace me with your gorgeous voice." She pet one of Usagi's odangos and nudged her towards the front of the room. Michiru eyed Haruka angrily. Haruka had been flirting all night with the girls. Especially Usagi. Of course. It was always her. The other girls were just games to Haruka. But she could never tell with Usagi. Haruka walked Usagi up to the front of the room and helped her turn on the machine and sat down with Michiru after Usagi started to sing. "Oh, so now you're going to sit with me? Am I your back up girl?" Michiru whispered angrily. "What? You want to be my backup singer when it's my turn?" Haruka asked quietly. "Would you listen to me?!" Michiru whispered harshly. "What's your problem?" Haruka blinked. "You're flirting with everyone but me!" Michiru frowned. "I can always flirt with you. It's funny to see their reactions." That was -not- what Michiru wanted to hear, obviously. "You really know how to get under my skin, you know that?" Haruka frowned and resumed watching Usagi. Neither of them spoke until Usagi was finished. They clapped politely. Haruka stood up. "Sorry to interrupt the flow of the line, but I'm going to go next, if that's all right." The other girls were too oogled by Haruka's charming smile to mind. Haruka smirked and turned to their CD rack to fish out the one she wanted. Bingo. Rent, Act 2. Perfect. She put it in the machine and programmed the instrumental part to drown out the vocals so only her voice would be heard when she sang. The song started up and Haruka held the microphone up to her mouth, looking straight at Michiru, who looked uninterested at first. Every single day I walk down the street I hear people say, "Baby, so sweet" Ever since puberty Everybody stares at me Boy - Girls I can't help it Baby. So be kind Don't lose your mind Just remember that I'm your baby Haruka sang strongly. The other girls were surprised at her vocal range. Take me for what I am Who I was meant to be And if you give a damn, Take me baby, or leave me! Take me baby, or leave me! A tiger in a cage Can never see the sun This diva needs her stage Baby - Let's have fun! You are the one I choose Folks'd kill to fill your shoes! You love the limelight too - Baby! So be mine, or don't waste my time Cryin - "Honeybear, are you still my my my BABY?!" Take me for what I am Who I was meant to be And if you give a damn, Take me baby, or leave me! Haruka walked to Michiru as she sang and knelt in front of her. No way - can I be what I'm not But hey - Don't you want your girl, hot! Don't fight - don't lose your head! Cause every night - Who's in your bed? Who's in your bed? Haruka smirked and murmured, "Kiss, Sweatheart?" Michiru snatched the microphone from Haruka's hand and stood. She glared, "It won't work." She said into the microphone. Then sang with the music, surprising Haruka. I look before I leap I love margins and discipline I make lists in my sleep Baby what's my sin? Never quit - I follow through I hate mess - But I love you What to do With my impromptu Baby? So be wise This girl, satisfies! You got a prize But don't compromise You're one lucky Baby Take me for what I am! Haruka frowned. "A control freak!" She yelled. Who I was meant to be! "A snob yet over-attentive!" Haruka called out And if you give a damn "A lovable, droll GEEK!" Take me Baby, or leave me! "An anal retentive!" "That's it!" They both stood face to face. "The straw that breaks my back." Haruka glared. "I quit! Unless you take it back!" Michiru glared back. "Women!" They both yelled at each other. "What is it about them?" Haruka rolled her eyes, and they both sang together now. Can't live With them Or without them! Take me for what I am Who I was meant to be And if you give a damn, Take me baby, or leave me! Take me baby, or leave me! The blonde racer and the elegant artist stared each other down. "Guess I'm leavin'." They both said in rhythm. "I'm GONE!" The Inner Senshi stared wide eyed. They didn't know whether to applaud or run out of the house before they were next. They just sort of sat uncomfortably in silence. Michiru stormed out onto the balcony, fuming mad. Haruka stood there for a moment, then dropped the microphone and trudged out after her, shutting the door behind her. "What the hell has gotten into you?" Haruka yelled. "I'd ask the same about you, but I guess I should be used to this behavior by now!" Michiru yelled back. "Michiru, we go through this all the time! I flirt, but that's just part of my personality. YOU are the only one for me!" Haruka said, "And hey, I don't have men unzipping my dresses behind a closed dressing room door." "You're still mad about that?! That was a long time ago!" Michiru yelled. "Oh I get it. My flirting counts but yours doesn't." Haruka frowned, then sighed. "I love you Michiru. And I'm sorry if I hurt you when I flirt with other girls. Will you forgive me?" Michiru just walked inside, silently. Haruka felt the sting of heartache strike her hard. She hated the cold shoulder. She felt the wind mess up her already messy hair. She blinked when she saw Michiru pick up the microphone and looked through the now open sliding glass door. Michiru lowered her head, and raised the microphone. Without you The ground thaws The rain falls The grass grows Without you The seeds root The flowers bloom The children play The stars gleam The poets dream The eagles fly Without you The earth turns The sun burns But I die Without you Without you The breeze warms The girl smiles The cloud moves Without you The tides change The boys run The oceans crash The crowds roar The days soar The babies - cry Without you The moon glows The river flows But I die Without you Haruka sighed softly and entered the room slowly. She stood beside Michiru. And sang with her. The world revives. Michiru's eyebrows rose. She didn't think Haruka would sing with her. She smiled a bit. Colors renew Their fingers found their way together, as did their voices. But I know blue Only blue Lonely blue Within me, blue Without you Michiru looked up at Haruka. Without you The hand gropes The ear hears The pulse beats Haruka gazed down at Michiru. Without you The eyes gaze The legs walk The lungs breathe The Inners gazed in awe. It amazed them how perfect the two of them sang together. How perfect they were together. The mind churns The heart yearns The tears dry Without you. Life goes on But I'm gone Cause I die Without you Without you Without you Without you Haruka tried again when the song was over. "Kiss, Sweatheart?" Michiru smiled, "Down girl." She leaned up and kissed her lover gently. The rather awed Inners took that as a sign to clap for the couple. Though they were a bit confused on what just happened, it seemed happy enough. Minako turned the song onto "Seasons of Love" and the whole group sang together. No day but today.
