| Head Coach: Jacques Martin |
| Jacques Martin, 50, is entering his 7th full season as head coach of the Ottawa Senators. Last year, he led the Sens to a 94 point season and 7th place in the conference. He then led the club to its best playoff appearance as they won 7 playoff games (4 against Philadelphia, 3 against Toronto). Martin has been nominated for the Jack Adams Trophy 3 times in his career, and won the award after leading the Sens to a 103 point season and its first North-East Division Championship in 1998-99. He has led the Senators to 6 consecutive playoff apperances, the longest current streak of any Canadian-based club. He also was named an associate coach for the gold medal winning Team Canada's Men's hockey team in the 2002 Salt Lake City games. Jacques was also the head coach for the World Team in the 2001 NHL All-Star game in Denver, Colorado. Martin was named head coach of the Senators on January 24th, 1996. He joined Ottawa from the 1996 Stanley Cup Champion Colorado Avalanche, where he was an assistant coach to head coach Marc Crawford. Martin had been with the Nordiques/Avalanche franchise since 1990, after spending 2 years as an assistant coach under Mike Keenan in Chicago. Martin was the head coach of the St. Louis Blues from 1986-88. He led the Blues to the Norris Division Championship in his rookie season (1986-87). He joined the Blues from the OHL Guelph Platers, where he led them to the Memorial Cup Championship. He was named the 1986 OHL Coach of the Year for his efforts. |
