2001-2002
In 2001-02, Ottawa Senators made the playoffs for the 6th straight season.  Daniel Alfredsson turned was the best player for the Sens, leading the club in scoring with 71 points and playing his heart out every night.  The Sens started the season really slow, going 3-6-1-0 in their first 10 games, but then went on a club record 11 game unbeaten streak (8-0-3-0).  On November 13th, the Sens set a club record with 11 goals against the Washington Capitals.  The Sens named Roger Neilson as head coach for the final 2 regular season games so he could reach the 1000 game plateau for his career.  The Sens finished the season as the 7th seed and faced the Flyers in the 1st round of the playoffs.  The Senators won the series 4-1, and held Philadelphia to an NHL record low 2 goals in the entire series.  The series win was the Sens 2nd in team history, the other time was in 1998 against New Jersey.  In the 2nd round, the Sens held a 3-2 series lead over Toronto, but failed to defeat the Leafs, as Toronto won the series 4-3.  Patrick Lalime tied a playoff record with 4 shutouts.  The Sens set a team record with 7 playoff wins.  Daniel Alfredsson led the team with 13 playoff points, and Patrick Lalime had a 1.39 GAA.
