1994-1995
The 1994-95 NHL season was shortened due to a lockout, so the season started in late-January.  The Senators finished with a club record .240 winning percentage, and finished the season with 4 wins in their last 5 games, including victories over Tampa Bay twice, Philadelphia, and the NY Islanders.  Don Beaupre recorded the Senators first shutout in club history by shuting out the Flyers 3-0 at the Ottawa Civic Centre.  Before the season in the NHL Entry Draft, Ottawa selected Radek Bonk with their 1st pick, and their 5th pick was Daniel Alfredsson.  Alexei Yashin again led the Senators in goals, assists and points, and Don Beaupre set a club-record in save percentage.  Beaupre was acquired from Washington before the season for a 5th round draft pick in the 1995 Entry Draft.  At the trading deadline, Ottawa acquired Martin Straka from the Pittsburgh Penguins for Norm Maciver and Troy Murray.  Straka finished with 7 points in 12 Senator games.  The Senators played in only 7 overtime games in the season, going 1-1-5 in those games.  The team finished last place overall for the 3rd straight season, but the teams future looked bright with a nucleus of young, talented players.
