DLR Martial Arts opened in the late part of 2000 with the intention of teaching a modified progressive martial art to adults and children. This was a great idea since the instructors and the martial arts community, as a whole, began to focus more on reality-based martial arts. This lead to the inclusion of Filipino, Indonesian and Thai martial arts, as well as experimentation with weapons training. Jeet Kune Do was at the forefront of this thought, created by my grandmaster Dan Inosanto's best friend and training partner Bruce Lee.
DLR Martial Arts is a Mixed Martial Arts style. This style of martial art focuses on teaching the student to defend themselves in kicking, punching, elbowing, kneeing, trapping, standing grappling, and ground fighting ranges. Through the practice of kicking, punching, blocking, footwork, trapping, joint manipulation, throws, takedowns, and positional dominance, students will become proficient in defending themselves in any situation. Though this is a very street practical style students can participate in martial sports using DLR Martial Arts. Participation in sport is not required nor is it forced on the student this is not for everyone. However, students who want to compete can do so in a variety of martial arenas including: American Kick Boxing, Thai Kick Boxing, Chinese Kick Boxing, Boxing, and Full-Contact Karate. Students that progress in this style will eventually be able to partake in Submission Grappling, Jiu-jitsu, Submission Fighting, and No Holds Barred tournaments. |
