~ ~ PetSafe ~ ~
PetSafe was started at Perdue University as a part of their Veterinarian School.  PetSafe is my passion, someone once told me to find a cause and break your back for it.  This one is mine. When we started our All Breed Club, Greater Monroe Kennel Club, we wanted to do something for the public besides show dogs.

Turning Point is the BatteredWomen's facility in Monroe, NC.  We wanted to offer shelter for the pets that belong to the families that come to the shelter.  Many times victims will stay in situations like that because of their four legged family members.  We offer a solution to their problem, safety for the whole family, we will shelter the pets until they find somewhere safe for the entire family to go.  We also update their pets shots and offer spay/neuter if needed.

Domestic violence is a dangerous issue and we try our best to protect our volunteers and our foster members.  The pet must come to the shelter and we will pick it up.  I am proud to say that there have been more clubs that have picked up this idea and started this in several parts of the country.  Bobbie Kolehouse, who wrote our wonderful article (above), has started one in her home state.  Another county has started here in our area and information has been sent to New Mexico and New Hampshire.  All because of Bobbie Kolehouse's article.
