| The NES is the first console game that I played.Though it is a simple 8 bit console, it spawned some games that have an influence even on the games of today.The NES was adept in dishing out games of the platformer genre, but there were a number of other really good games of other varieties, of which snake rattle and roll, kickle cubicle and maniac mansion deserve mention. The SNES was a worthy successor and the best console in it's time.The sega genesis/megadrive sucks and that's final.The only remotely good games i played on it were altered beast and sonic the hedgehog.Sonic looks good but gets very very repetitive for a while - there's nothing much to do - just run and run and run.The SNES had loads of great games on the other hand.Mario and zelda were obviously 2 of my favorites. In the emulation scene, there are two excellent emulators, nester , which can be found at www.nester.dranalli.com and the later FCE ultra at fceultra.sorceforge.net. There are plenty of great NES ROM sites,some of my favorites are : www.emumaniacs.com www.emulationstation.com www.qualityroms.com Sadly , cult of kefka , one of the best ROM sites ever , has shut down. I have found Bucky o hare and gradius 2 with great difficulty :-) I have some really rare and great ROMs like bucky o hare , maniac mansion , gradius 2 (yes it's true) ,defender of the crown and a few more Nowadays however, i usually play PC games , and i am totally removed from the console gaming scene.I usually like FPSs and RPGs ( Neverwinter nights and Sw KOTOR 1 & 2 rule ! ) |

| Disclaimer: Like all other ROM sites, DELETE ALL ROMS AFTER 24 HRS. OK that was another sad joke from me.Keep them as long as you want.I have no idea why some ROM sites say all this.It's only because of emulation that 8 bit consoles are still alive.It should be viewed as a tribute to the great NES :-) |
| Some good ROM sites : Quality ROMs : by arnacho and tortilla , my favorite has the best reviews i've seen anywhere Tresspassing emulation: Has loads of ROMs.There GBA and N64 collection is especially good. (needs registering) Emumaniacs: not bad though has a load of rubbish on it. Emulation Station : Stupid hentai ad on page but has a nice NES/SNES collection CherryRoms: has loads of Roms.(needs registering) If you want some nes/snes instruction manuals (nostalgia :-) ) try Vimm's Lair and the manual page on the "manual project link. Lastly if you want the whole lot i would recoomend using torrents.I never did that but many of my friends did.Torrentreactor.net has quite a few of these, however torrent sites keep going up and down. |
