| New England Fall Foliage & Cape Cod October 6-17, 2007 12 Days |

| DAY 1: TENNESSEE VALLEY / SHENANDOAH VALLEY / WYTHEVILLE, VA: Our New England tour begins as our tour director greets us. The colors of fall start to unfold in all their radiant beauty as we tavel northeast through the hills of Tennessee and into the beautiful Shenandoah Valley for our overnight stay in Wytheville. DAY 2: HISTORIC VIRGINIA / HARBOR PLACE / BALTIMORE: Fall colors become more brilliant as we travel the length of the Blue Ridge Mountains enroute to the Baltimore area for our overnight stay. This evening we'll go to Harbor Place, a festival marketplace situated in two glass-enclosed pavillions with more than 140 shops and restaurants. DAY 3: KENNETT, PA / LONGWOOD GARDENS & HOME TOUR / CONNECTICUT: We visit world-famous Longwood Gardens and Home, the former estate of Pierre du Pont. Included are 350 acres of outdoor gardens, as well as, four acres of glass-enclosed conservatories filled with magnificent flower gardens, beautiful fountains and more than 14,000 different plants. After enjoying this splendor, we will travel into the state of Connecticut for our night's lodging. (D) DAY 4: NEWPORT, RI / TEN MILE DRIVE / THE BREAKERS / BRICK MARKETPLACE: In Newport we'll travel along the acclaimed " Ten Mile Drive" . Winding slowly through exquisite estates of the "400", we'll marvel at the grandeur of magnificent homes and impeccable grounds. Then we'll visit "The Breakers", a 70-room mansion built for Cornelius Vanderbilt in 1895 and considered the most elaborate of all Newport homes. We'll stop at the famous Brick Marketplace with its many shops and boutiques to explore. Tonight we'll enjoy a delicious New England lobster dinner. (D) DAY 5: FERRY RIDE / MARTHA'S VINEYARD / EDGARTOWN / NEW ENGLAND LOBSTER: This morning we'll board the ferry for a cruise to Martha's Vineyard where we'll enjoy a sightseeing trip of the island. See oak bluffs, beaches in long sweeps of unbroken beauty, salt sea marshes, picturesque yacht harbors, and Edgartown, a fashionable harbor-side community of narrow streets and stately old homes. Tonight we'll enjoy a delicious New England lobster dinner. (D) DAY 6: HYANNIS / YARMOUTH / CHATHAM LIGHTHOUSE / SANDWICH: Today, our tour takes us throught the picturesque harbor town of Hyannis Port, famous as the Kennedy playground, and along the elbow of the Cape to the Chatham Lighthouse, which for years has protected shippers from the dreaded Monomoy Shoals. Continuing along the north shore, where quaint cottages are ringed with rambling red roses, we'll stop for shopping, sightseeing and browsing in the interesting little town of Sandwich before returning to our hotel. What a beautiful day on the Cape! DAY 7: BOSTON CITY TOUR / LUNCH @ NO NAME: This morning's agenda includes a guided city tour of Boston. See Boston Common, the oldest public park in the country where witches were hanged and "common scolds" were dunked in the pond. Visit the Old State House where the Declaration of Independence was first read to the citizens of Boston in 1776. See the Old North Church from whose tall steeple Robert Newman hung two lanterns that started Paul Rever's famous ride. Lunch will be at the No Name Restaurant, before we depart Boston. (L) DAY 8: PLYMOUTH ROCK / MAYFLOWER II / PLYMOUTH PLANTATION: Our day begins with a visit to Plymouth Rock, the point of the Pilgrim's landing on December 21, 1620. We'll board a replica of the Mayflower to see what life on the seas was like for the early pilgrims. Plymouth Plantation, a living history village recreating life in 1627 Plymouth, is alive with costumed people in 17th century attire portraying actual residents of the period. Tonight we get a good nights rest in anticipation of an exciting day in New York. DAY 9: GUIDED NEW YORK CITY TOUR / ELLIS ISLAND / STATUE OF LIBERTY / BROADWAY SHOW / NEW YORK CITY: This is the day we go to New York City! A local guide will board our motorcoach and direct our driver throughout Manhattan. We will see the famous West Side of Central Park where many celebrities, actors and television personalities have made their homes. A drive down Fifth Avenue takes us past the Plaza Hotel, FAO Schwartz, Saks, and other fine stores. See St. Patrick's Cathedral and Rockefeller Center, the Financial District, Wall Street and the Commodities Exchange. We then board the ferry and cruise over to Liberty National Park, the Immigration Museum at Ellis Island--a testament to the more than 14 million immigrants who came into the U.S. in search of the American Dream. Tonight, we will experience a spectacular Broadway musical. Our hotel is conveniently located in the theatre district of Manhattan. DAY 10: EMPIRE STATE BUILDING / WINCHESTER, VA: By eight o'clock we are entering the Empire State Building. Then, from 86 stories up at the Observation Level, we'll have a bird's eye view of the city. We then depart New York City making our way to Winchester for the night. DAY 11: VIRGINIA FARM MARKET / FAREWELL DINNER @ GREENWAY HAVEN / ABINGDON, VA: Before leaving this beautiful state, we will visit the Virginia Farmers Market where all kinds of delicious fruits and vegetables are sold. Our Farewell Dinner at stately Greenway Haven provides a lovely setting to reminisce about all the excitement we have experienced on our Cape Cod journey. Tonight, we stay in Abingdon, Virginia. (D) DAY 12: HOME: As we near home, our anticipation mounts. Soon, we will be sharing stories and pictures with family and friends of all the spectacular fall foliage, beautiful harbor towns, and our historical trips back in time. |
