| Hopefully you have breathed that sigh of relief that the holidays are over and you can get back into your normal daily routine. Speaking of getting back into a routine, its time to get back to our Tuesday and Thursday exercise sessions here at the Center. Amy, from Lawrenceburg Physical Therapy, is on maternity leave and will not be with us for a few weeks, but we will have a leader. Georgia is putting together a routine for a good workout and will be leading the session. I cannot stress enough the critical need to keep your muscles strong, and the only way to do that is work them. Some of our health needs can be helped with a pill, but that is not the case with muscle strength. Theres no pill to keep you strong. USE THEM OR LOSE THEM! When you lose your muscle strength, everything else starts downhill. Make a commitment to get fit or stay fit. It will take some time and effort to exercise on a regular basis, but the alternatives are not good to think about (falls, broken bones, surgeries, hospitals, nursing homes, etc.) You will notice on the next pages, we have a good schedule of activities for February, thanks to the collaboration of Georgia, Linda, and myself. Georgia is now serving as the Activities Coordinator, and Linda is always ready to pitch in and help as well. One of the Special Activities for February goes along with Valentines Day. Were going to have a King and Queen contest in the same manner as the schools do, as a fund-raiser, with votes being dollars donated to the Center. To make it worthwhile, we have put together a prize package for each winner with some pretty neat items, such as: a $25 gift card from Kroger, $20 gift card from CVS Pharmacy, an oil change, an overnight bag, ten Nutrition meals (your meal donation made for you), gift items from Christian Book Store and the Senior Center, heart box of goodies, and more. If you would like to be a candidate, or nominate someone else who is willing to be a candidate, call the office and give us the name. We will post the list of prizes and the list of candidates here at the Center, so everyone can vote for the candidate of their choice by a donation to the Center. Well close the voting at 8:00 a.m. February 14, and tally up the votes to crown the King and Queen when our Valentines Day party begins at 9:00. Notice that on February 20 we will be doing another fish lunch since the Nutrition meal will not be served due to Presidents Day Holiday. Our monthly Birthday/Anniversary celebration will take on a more festive atmosphere this month, and the Center Staff is preparing lunch. Details are in the Special Activities list. |

| As of this writing, the County Commission has not made a final decision regarding the future of the Senior Center. Earlier it seemed that most of them felt the current property would be needed for the new jail, and that it would be best to build a new facility, possibly on property next to the Bobby Brewer Park; but that may not be the final decision of the full Commission. Well just have to wait and see. We will continue our efforts to provide the best activities possible, and have faith that everything will work out for the best. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
