Here are some tips that will help your game play significantly.
1. ALWAYS SPECIALIZE. Specialize means constructing only one type of building. The reason is because Earth calculates the effectiveness of your buildings by the percentage of buildings relative to the total land you have. Therefore by specializing, it will maximize your profit. For indy, build industrial only. For cashers (an exception), build enterprise/residential only. For techers, build labs only. For farmers build farms only. It is alright to have expenses in the red rather than in the green. You should never see all expenses in green at any time, otherwise you are not specialized.
2. Follow good Earth players (clans) Rules.
3. Never attack the same country more than twice per day. Fail to do so will result in severe consequences. Also attack when your readiness is at 100% (or 99%) or else you're not making use of your units efficiently. This is because your military's strength is directly multiplied to your readiness, therefore if you have 1M jets and you're only at 90% readiness, you're effectively having only 900K attack powers with your 1M jets.
4. Good diplomacy skills can enhance game play.
5. Always keep spies and tanks at a good amount. Your country can be severely damaged by spy ops and ABs. Compare your tank and spy level with your allies and always keep them intact. Never send your tanks out on a PS. The extra expense for keeping the tanks up is well worth it. Never spy on the same country more than two times. It's just a waste of your turns and as well it provokes anger.
6. Try your VERY BEST not to run out of money/food. You will lose a portion of your military when this happens. This is the worst thing that you ever want to happen to you, especially for indies since their income is at negative all the time.
7. Make full use of your offensive allies. You will benefit from 1/4 of the total available units from your offensive allies, therefore you should make use of them. When you send jets on an attack, you will only make use of the available JETS from your offensive allies. Therefore if your offensive ally only has troops and no jets, you will benefit NOTHING from them when you use jets on attacks. Therefore you should calculate the number of troops/jets/tanks available for use from them and try to make full use of them by using 1/4 of what is available to you. It is okay to attack with tanks even though it is not as efficient as attacking with jets since you benefited from your offensive allies. Make your alliance expense worth the money.
8. The time you make your first attack in a new game is the time for you to get defensive allies.
9. It is more effective to do spy ops on possible targets' military and status before attacking to determine the amount of military needed to be sent for the best results.
10. Never use a turn building less than your maximum BPT. If you are able to build 50 buildings per turn, only build 50 buildings a turn, and no less.
11. Hypothetically, logging in every 18 hours will benefit one most, for it allows for the free turns awarded in the least amount of time possible.
12. Set a goal for yourself as to how many acres you want to get before stop
landgrabbing and start stockpiling. Here is a summary of what your target acre
amount would be:

1. Food decays at a rate of 0.1% per turn. So never keep too much food (no more than 8M food) on hand. Try to put excess food onto the market for some ridiculous price so that they don't get sold and becomes a "storage" medium for your excess food.
2. There are different ways to get around the 2B bug (refer to the Introduction page for what the 2B bug is). Two common ways is to put the money in forms of food or tech. For more info on how to stockpile refer to the Stockpiling Section (to be posted).
3. For SS (Standard Strike), you get approximately 7% of your target's land if their country size is larger than 1/3 of yours, otherwise you'll get only 5% of their land. You get about 10% of your target's land with PS if they're within 1/3 of your size.
