September & October 2003 Report
During the month of September & October 2003, the Indian Child Welfare Program participated in the following:
Attended the Quarterly Indian Child Welfare Association meeting in Norman on the 25th & 26th of September.
Attended a Global Positioning System (GPS) workshop on the 30th of September.
Conducted a Seneca-Cayuga family visit involving a child in Tribal custody on the 30th of September.
Attended Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect (SCAN) meetings held by the Northeastern Tribal Health Center on the 1st of October.
Participated in the Ottawa County District Attorney's Multi-Discplinary Team (MDT) meeting on the 3rd of October.
Attended a BUDDY (Bust Under-Age Drinking & Driving Youth) meeting on the 6th of October.
Conducted a Seneca-Cayuga family visit involving a child in Tribal custody on the 7th of October.
Participated in a annual BIA review on the 8th of October.
Attended Court proceedings in the Court of Indian Offenses (CFR) involving two Seneca-Cayuga families on the 9th of October.
Participated in the Ottawa County District Attorney's Multi-Discplinary Team (MDT) meeting on the 12th of October.
Transported a Seneca-Cayuga child that is in the Tribes custody for a weekend visit with her family on the 15th - 20th of October.
Conducted a Seneca-Cayuga family visit involving a child in Tribal custody on the 21st of October.
Currently, there are four children in Tribal custody and fifty-two children in State custody: nineteen from the Peoria Tribe, eleven are placed with extended family members and eight are placed in State foster homes; nineteen children from the Seneca-Cayuga Tribe, thirteen children placed with extended family members, six in state foster homes; fourteen children from the Ottawa Tribe, three children in state foster homes and eleven children with extended family services.
