A very good outing, the best first seasons of any Trek series. |

It jumped right into great sci-fi without any backround information. It did have to stumble a bit at first until a better back round was establish. For example at first there was no prime directive, there was no Federation. These thing haven't been established yet, yet having they were, it is understood that they were really there all along. |

A not so good season, like all Trek series, it's down fall was |

the effort to seek more audinence. It brought out such horrible episode as "Bread and Circusis" and "Patterns of Force", that put the crew in present day situtations such as Nazi Germany, a 20th century Rome, instead of the great science fiction of the first season. |

more audience, in this case female audience, by introducing a love story in almost every episode, it was still quite good. The darker year of the series with lost of dark episodes and sad tales, which are my favorites. |
