| Synopsis: While delivering medicine to a mental institution, Kirk and Spock are held captive by a mad man who can change his appearence at will. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Over All: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| An excellent episode. Vey unique and dark for the orginal | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| series. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Pros: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| - "I AM LORD GARTH! Master of the universe." The character | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| of Captain Garth. He brings true depth to this series, and makes this episode outstanding and a classic. - It was quite interesting to see the crew visit a mental institution. We discover that in the 23rd century insanity is a dease easily cured, with the exception of these 15 uncurable patients. - This episode brings backs several aliens seen in earlie episodes. In the mental institution we see an Andorian, a Tellerite, and an Orion girl. - This is episode contains the classic seen in which Garth inpersonates Kirk, so Spock must decide which one is Garth and which one is Kirk. He adventurly relizes which one is Kirk when the real Kirk says, "You must shoot us both in order to in sure the safety of the Enterprise." |
|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Cons: | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| - After Garth captures Kirk and Spock, he assumes Kirk's form | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| with plans to beam back to the Enterprise and take command of it. But when he asks Scotty to beam him up, Scotty says "Queen to Queen's level three." a code to which Garth does not know the appropiate responce, So Garth tries to torture, and trick the correct responce out of Kirk. My complaint is why did Kirk make up the code in the first place. It was a routine mission to visit a mental institution, or did Kirk know that a shape shifting madman was going to impersonate him and try to take control of his ship. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
