Star Trek Episode Countdown
Synopsis: Archer and T'Pol get kidnapped and held for ransom.
Over All:
A boring episode that shows just how incompident this crew is.
Pros:
- It's a good follow up to "The Andorian Incident". I'm glad to see
that Enterprise actaully shows the consequences of the crews earlier actions. It makes since that the Andorians would take action against the Vulcan for having a secret base to spy on them, and it makes since that the Vulcans would blame Archer for helping the Andorians find the base in the first place.
Cons:
- The plot with the kidnapping is done horribly, it's as if the writers
are just admitting that they could think of a better plot so they're just do a standard kidnapping plot. They didn't describe much about the aliens they were going to see or the Rebels that took them hostage.
- I really don't like how Enterprise portays Vulcans as the enemy. This episode in particular make the Vulcans seem like oppersive alien bad guys, and a genuine pain in the ass.
- This episode is one of the shining examples that shows just how incompident the crew is. Commander Tucker in particular, the way he shouted at the hostage takers and the Vulcans, he sounds like a first year cadet. And when Tucker and Reed go to rescue the Captain and T'Pol, they do a horrible job, and if the Andorians didn't stop them. they would have just gotten captured too. I understand in this time period humans are new to space and dealing with alien cultures, so they wouldn't be as experienced as Picard or Janeway, but it seems like they had no training at all before they went into space.
