Meanwhile K'Ehleyr reveals to Worf that he is the father of her child.
Over All:
An excellent episode. one of the best and most exciting
Klingon episodes of Trek.
Pros:
- This episode is one of the best to go into detail about the
Klingon Empire. Here we see two warriors competing to become the Klingon Supreme Commander. Duras, whom we've seen in the earlier episode "Sins of the Father" and Gowron who this episode introduces us to.
- It was interesting to see Picard hold his own againsr a couple of feirce Klingons.
- This is a tragic story. In the episode "The Emissary" we see that Worf wants very badly to marry K'Ehleyr, and that the two of them are in love, however then she turned him down. Here she relizes that she really does want to marry Worf, but now Worf has been dishonored and if he claimed Alexander has his son, he would also be dishonored, and for this reason he refuses to marry her. Which makes K'Ehleyr desprate to find out why Worf was exiled from the Klingon culture, that leads her to the truth, that Duras' Father betrayed his people to the Romulan's not Worf's. Because K'Ehleyr learned the truth Duras killed her. In a fit of rage and vengence Worf kills Duras. A tragic story, my favorite kind.
Cons:
- I don't understand why Duras planted the bomb on the Klingon
ship, it served no purpose other than to prove that he planted it and that he was working with the Romulans, and that he was the one that killed K'Mpec. What was he hoping to accoplish, to kill Gowron, I don't see how he could have done that without killing himself.
- It's been established that time in this series moves at the same rate as real time, so by the measurement Alexander was concieved a year and a half before this episode, though here he looks to be at least four years old.
