We see a deep working relationship a close friendship between the two of them since the start of the series, but we first get wind of how deep their relationship goes in the third season priemere "The Search Parts One & Two". Next, in "Heart of Stone" we discover that Odo is in love with Kira, but knows she could never feel the same about him. A year later in "Crossfire", we see how Odo struggles to cope with his feelings for her as she gets intimatly involved with a man Odo is sworn to protect. A year after that in "Children of Time" Kira discovers Odo's feelings for her when a future version of Odo expresses his love for her. A year later in "His Way", with the help of the lounge singing hologram Vic Fontaine Odo finally makes a move on her and she discovers her true feelings for him and their romatic relationship begins.
The devolpment of their relationship has always been interesting and productive to the series as a whole. Once their romantic relationship began, it only got better. I do admit, at times it seemed at bit artificail, overall it was the best done relationship in the Trek saga. Their relationship is what made the episode "Chimera" so interesting, it was a truely touching tale of what people will do for true love.
And their relationship brought out great tear jerkers, such as in "Tacking in the Wind" and "Exteme Measures" when we see how Kira deals with Odo contracting a deadly diease, and in "What You Leave Behind" when Odo must leave Kira to return to the great link. |
