A fascinating and exciting episode |

- It was very exciting to see the Enterprise go up against a |

|
|
|
machine that destoyes entire planets. An invinceable machine that seems impossible to defeat. In a way it's the preecesor to such TNG episodes, where they go up against the Borg. Another invincable enemy that seems impossible to defeat.
- The Side plot of having Commendor Decker take command of the Enterprise on a fool's mission to destory the Machine was also very fasinating.
- Of course this episode had a strong and odvisous warning against the use of such doomsday machine such as the atomic bomb. This episode shows what would happen if weapons of mass destruction are actaully used. In this situation, both warring races were destroyed, but the machine survived to haunt other innocent races. Such would be the case if there was an atomic war on earth, not only would it destroy the warring countries, but the entire earth would surfer. |

- Boy, the security officers aboard the Enterprise, aren't very |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
effective, are they? It seems like they're also easily overcomed by any prisoner they are escourting. In this case Commendor Decker easily beats up and escapes the one securtiy officer that was escourting him. There were two security men on the bridge, you think Spock would have sent them both to escourt Decker. But knowing how effecting the security forces are, Decker probably would have just beat them both up. |
