| Synopsis: The crew encounter the Borg, to find that a great change has occurred in their behavoir. They are no longer interested in assilating anyone, just killing, and they now function as indivauls and not one collective. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Over All: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| The first part is exciting and sets up a possibilty of a great | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| story, but the second part ruins everything, thus making the first part worthless. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Pros: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| - I was glad to see them follow up with "I, Borg" and "Brothers" | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| both episodes left us hanging. In "I, Borg" the Borg Hugh is sent back to the collective with his indivaulity intact, which was meant to have an effect on the Borg, here we find out what that effect is. In "Brothers" Lore steals Data's emotion chip that Dr. Soong made for him and ran away, here we see what happened to Lore. - The Scene with Data playing poker with holograms of Issac Netwon, Albert Enstien, and Stephen Hawkings (played by himself) was excellent, and a Next Generation classic. - It was great to see Dr. Crusher in command of the Enterprise, even if we did get another glimpse of how bad an actress Gate McFadden is. |

| Cons: | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| - The first part did set up the second part nicely, however it was | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| far too drawn out, they focused too much on Data's experiencing emotions and not enough on the Borg. At the end of the first part Data says, "The sons of Soong have joined together, and together we will destroy the Federation." Which set up the second part nicely. But the second part seemed to forget that. In the second part Lore wasn't concerned at all about destroying the Federation just doing his experiments, to try to make the borg fully cybernetic, which was rediculous. The only good thing about the second part was the plot with Dr. Crusher in command of the Enterprise. - I was glad they actaully showed Hugh again, but I didn't like at all the way he was potrayed. They should have touched more on his relationship with Geordi, but the two didn't even met in this episode. At the end of the second part Hugh, after telling Riker that he wouldn't help them, stopped Lore from killing Data suddenly. However he barely met Data before, why would he care so much about him being killed. - They never specify in this episode whether not the entire Borg collective was effected by Hugh's individaullity. They talk like it was, and in "I, Borg" they thought that it would infect the entire collective, but of course we have to deduce it was just the one ship, Or we wouldn't have had First Contact or all those fabulous Voyager Borg episodes. |
